Cannabis weddings
The Hudson Valley wedding-vendor ecosystem is large enough that you can find cannabis-aware variants of every category — officiants, photographers, caterers, florists, planners, DJs. The challenge is mostly that vendors don't usually advertise this on their website (cannabis is still socially varied territory in the wedding industry), so finding the right fit is referral-driven. This page is the practical guide to identifying cannabis-aware HV wedding vendors — what to ask, where to look, what red flags to avoid. Adults 21+.
Cannabis-aware officiants are the easiest category — many will incorporate cannabis themes into the ceremony if asked (a moment of shared smoke or edible during the ceremony, language acknowledging cannabis as part of the couple's life together).
Hudson Valley has a robust independent-officiant scene. Ask the planner or check Universal Life Church directories for HV-based officiants comfortable with cannabis themes.
Most HV wedding photographers are happy to shoot cannabis moments — the couple sharing a joint, the budtender handing off a pre-roll, the THC seltzer toast. The challenge is finding photographers who'll get the LIGHTING and the ATMOSPHERE right rather than just documenting the act.
Ask to see specific cannabis-friendly weddings in their portfolio. If they don't have any, that's a signal — they may be willing but they're untested.
Cannabis-infused catering at weddings is its own complex compliance area: licensed dispensaries can sell edibles, but a caterer cannot legally infuse a meal with cannabis on-site at a wedding (that's manufacturing without a license). The workaround is licensed-pre-packaged edibles served alongside the meal.
Most established HV caterers will accommodate this with reasonable advance notice. Ask in the proposal stage about edible service logistics.
Cannabis flowers (the literal plant) are increasingly available as decor — some HV florists have started incorporating them into bouquets and centerpieces. This is purely decorative; no consumption.
If you want this, you're looking for florists who source from licensed cultivators directly. Hepworth Farms and a few others sell flower for non-consumption decorative use.
A wedding planner who's done at least one cannabis-aware HV wedding is worth a 10-20% premium for the day-of execution. The logistics — designated area setup, staff briefing, edible labeling, signage, bar coordination — go smoother with someone who's done it before.
