New dispensaries in the Hudson Valley tend to arrive one at a time, in a converted garage here and a strip-plaza unit there, which makes them easy to miss. Add them up and the river counties gained nine licensed shops between May and the end of August 2026, from Spring Valley in Rockland to Pine Plains in northern Dutchess. Each one below appears on the state's license register with the date it opened to the public and an operating status of active as of 2026. Adults 21+ with a valid government-issued photo ID can shop at any of them.

The new shops, in order of opening

Toke Cannabis Rockland, Spring Valley

Opened May 4, 2026, at 2 South Central Avenue in the village of Spring Valley. It is the Rockland sister of Toke's shop on McLean Avenue in Yonkers, and the company's site lists in-store shopping, in-store and curbside pickup, and delivery to eligible addresses, with the buyer present to accept the order. The state lists the license holder as women- and minority-owned. Toke Cannabis Rockland in the directory.

Farmers Choice Dispensary, New Paltz

Opened June 4, 2026, at 1 Old Route 299, just off Route 299 by Thruway Exit 18. It is the second Farmers Choice after the original on Westage Drive in Fishkill, and the bigger of the two: Chronogram described a 5,000-square-foot building with a 3,000-square-foot retail floor. The theme is a farm stand, spelled out on the shop's site as "a farm market first," with staff it calls Farm Hands. Ordering ahead for in-store pickup is the main online option. New Paltz listing, Fishkill listing, and the rest of town on the New Paltz hub.

Daydream Dispensary, Highland

Opened July 1, 2026, on Route 299 in Highland, the hamlet on the Ulster side of the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Daydream takes pre-orders through an online menu, accepts cash and debit, keeps an ATM on site, and advertises delivery on its site without naming a service area. The state lists it as women- and minority-owned. Daydream in the directory.

Rosie's Botanicals, Highland

Opened July 7, 2026, at 3565 Route 9W, six days after Daydream and on the other main road through the hamlet. The shop says it holds a social and economic equity license, describes itself as locally owned and co-owned by a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and leans on staff education at the counter. Orders placed online are for in-person pickup only. Its site also points out free parking and a bus stop at Route 9W and Haviland-Tillson Avenue. Rosie's Botanicals in the directory.

Kushmart, Haverstraw

Opened July 27, 2026, at 147 Route 9W, a free-standing building that the Rockland Times reported in November 2025 had been bought for use as a dispensary. Kushmart also runs stores in Brooklyn and the Buffalo suburbs, and the Haverstraw shop works the same way: order online, bring ID, and most pickup orders are ready within about half an hour, per the company. The state lists it as women- and minority-owned. Kushmart Haverstraw in the directory.

The Haze, Poughkeepsie

Opened July 29, 2026, at 2245 South Road, the Route 9 address of the former Umberto's restaurant, whose conversion into a dispensary WPDH reported in March 2025. The state register carries it under the license holder's name, Serenity Greens, while the storefront and website use The Haze, the same name as the shop on Broadway in Newburgh. Customers reserve from a live menu online and pick up in the store. The Haze Poughkeepsie in the directory, plus the Poughkeepsie hub.

The weigh-station shop, Pine Plains

Opened at the end of July 2026 (July 29 on the state register), Pine Plains's first dispensary sits in a restored 580-square-foot railroad weigh station at 7723 South Main Street, on the former Deuel's Home Center property. The original scale is still near the back, per the Millerton News. The shop is managed by the owners of Upstate Pines in Red Hook, and its public name was still pending at opening; the state lists it under the license holder, Two Budz LLC. Pine Plains listing.

Elevated Dreams, Newburgh

Opened August 13, 2026, in Unit 10 of Algonquin Plaza at 190 South Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh. It holds one of the state's conditional adult-use retail licenses, the program set aside for people with past cannabis convictions and their families, and joins two older shops on the same road, including Cannabis Huts at 165 South Plank. Elevated Dreams in the directory.

Hudson Strands, Wappingers Falls

Opened August 27, 2026, at 1839 South Road, on the Route 9 stretch between Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Falls. The shop pitches itself as "Locally Curated" and "Hudson Valley Proud," runs a loyalty program, and posts short explainers on terpenes and cannabinoids on its site. The state lists it as women-owned. Hudson Strands in the directory.

What the list leaves out

A license is not a storefront. The register also carries several Hudson Valley locations that are licensed but listed as non-operational as of 2026, including a few that posted opening dates and then went quiet. None of those appear above. Shops that opened earlier in 2026, such as Easy Jay's in Port Jervis in January and The Flowery on Route 17K in Newburgh in February, are in the full directory.

How to check that a shop is licensed

Every legal shop in New York posts a QR code near its entrance. Scan it, or verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov, where the Office of Cannabis Management keeps its dispensary verification list. A storefront selling cannabis without that code is not licensed, whatever the sign says. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces, which covers the parks and trails around most of these towns.

The whole map, older shops included, lives in the dispensary directory, and what is on around the valley this season is on the events calendar.
