Three is the Magic Number

Three is the Magic Number EXHIBITION: March 13–April 26, 2026 OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, March 14, 4-6pm YES GALLERY Under the guidance of art teacher Danielle Payette, fifth-grade students at Woodstock Elementary explored landscapes through the concept of the number three, discovering its endless possibilities. The project was inspired by WAAM artist Alan Samalin, who creates abstract triptych works. Students began their journey by creating several landscape drawings using only three types of lines: a curved line, a straight line, and a continuous contour line. They then selected three of their landscapes and used three different mediums to create a triptych, discovering along the way that three really is the magic number.
