Murder suspect extradited from Florida after Ellenville woman found dead
A Westbrookville man accused of killing an Ellenville woman has been returned to Ulster County after authorities tracked him to Florida, state police said. Michael David Carman, 28, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Nicole Izabella Perez, who was found dead in her Ellenville apartment on March 30. Investigators said Carman was identified as a suspect during the investigation and was believed to have fled New York. State Police, working with the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies in Clay County, Florida, located Carman and took him into custody as a fugitive from justice. He was extradited back to New York on April 13 and is being held at the Ulster County Jail. Police have not publicly released Perez’s cause of death, and the investigation remains ongoing. State Police said they were assisted by the Ellenville Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
