Mapping The Sawkill Watershed Project A Social Practice Artist-in-Residency with Jennifer Zackin EXHIBITION: October 23-November 29, 2026 OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, October 24, 4-6pm YES GALLERY Mapping the Sawkill Watershed Project is a yearlong interdisciplinary social practice project led by artist Jennifer Zackin and presented as WAAM’s 2026 Artist-in-Residence exhibition. The exhibition brings together art, ecology, science, and community to explore our collective relationship with the Sawkill Creek Watershed, 26.2-square-mile protected area in northern Dutchess County, New York.  Throughout 2026, Zackin has invited community members to build connections with the Sawkill through walking tours, sensory workshops, community mapping, observation, scientific inquiry, storytelling, and the Stream Steward Program. The resulting exhibition will evolve throughout its five-week run, with the gallery changing each week to highlight different aspects of the project. Community-generated maps, drawings, photographs, observations, data, stories, and other materials gathered throughout the year will create a changing portrait of the watershed and the community’s relationship to it. Developed in partnership with the Woodstock Land Conservancy, the Town of Woodstock Drinking Water Source Protection Plan (DWSP2), and WAAM, this project is supported by an Arts Mid-Hudson Grant.  PRESS RELEASE
